Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Rostelecom, the largest digital services provider in Russia, on the disposal of a 44.8 percent stake in SafeData LLC (SafeData), the leading data centers and cloud services provider in Russia, to Russia-based VTB Bank for US$464.3 million (RUB 35 billion).

“We have advised long-standing client Rostelecom on VTB’s investment in SafeData, which follows our previous role advising Rostelecom on a series of acquisitions in the data center services industry, including the acquisition of SafeData in 2015 and DataLine in 2019,” said White & Case partner Nikolay Feoktistov, who led the Firm’s deal team. “This deal is the largest in the history of the Russian data centers services market and will further allow our client to expand its data-centers network and fulfil its long-term goals.”
According to the transaction documents, SafeData may undergo an IPO within the next three years.
The White & Case team in Moscow which advised on the transaction was led by partner Nikolay Feoktistov and included associates Evgeny Chernyavsky and Valery Lavrov.
