Energy UK’s latest switching figures reveal that 591,156 switched supplier in October this year.
October’s figures have brought the total amount of energy switches in 2020 up to 4,998,611, which is only 7% lower than at this point in 2019 – great progress considering the effects Covid-19 has had on the market.
Emma Pinchbeck, Energy UK’s chief executive, said:
“It’s very encouraging to see over half a million customers switching provider in October, typically the highest month of the year for switching.
“As temperatures drop across the country I’d encourage more people to get in touch with their supplier or check online to see if they’re on the best tariff for them, ahead of darker, colder months when we use more energy.
“I’d still urge customers to consider making their homes more energy efficient – for example by applying for the Government’s Green Homes Grants – as this is the best way to help save money on bills in the longer term and reduce household emissions to help tackle climate change.”
