Scottish Power to take on Tonik Energy customers

By Matt Maynard · 12th October 2020

After recent news of Tonik Energy ceasing to trade, Ofgem has announced they will appoint Scottish Power to take on their whole customer base.

Scottish Power will offer their new customers a competitive energy tariff, while all outstanding credit will be honoured and energy supplies will remain uninterrupted.

Customers will be contacted to be told about the changes put in place, and if they are not happy, they can opt to switch their supplier. All exit fees will be waived if anyone does decide to switch to another tariff.

Philippa Pickford, Ofgem’s director of retail, said:

“I am pleased to announce we have appointed Scottish Power for the customers of Tonik Energy. Their energy supply will continue as normal and domestic customer credit balances will be honoured.”

“Scottish Power will be in contact with customers over the coming days with further information. Once the transfer has been completed, customers can shop around for a better deal if they wish to.”
