When Natalie Sturdy, a project co-ordinator for Build Aviator, and her partner Alistair Murdoch who is a joiner were looking to take a step up the ladder together, they found the whole process very easy and hassle-free at our Princess Gate development in Troon.

Becoming dog owners meant the couple needed a home with a garden for the newest member of the family, so their search for a three bedroom house to replace their flat in Troon began, as Natalie explains: “We did consider both new-build and older properties when we started to look for a larger house, but we knew that we wanted to stay local and having a garden for Ozzy was a top priority.  We looked at lots of different styles of houses, and while I liked both new and older style houses, Alistair preferred the new-build options that we looked at.

“In the end we agreed that we needed to buy a new house that we could just move into and have no DIY to worry about.  We also both loved the idea of moving into a new home that was a blank canvas, where we could pick our own options and personalise our space, so that’s exactly what we’ve done.

“The layout of the Blair really appealed to us because it has a separate kitchen and lounge; the main bedroom has an en suite, and there’s a garden so it was perfect for the dog.”

The couple bought their Blair three bedroom semi-detached home off-plan, and while it was hard for them to visualise it, everything worked out perfectly as Alistair adds: “It can be tricky to visualise a house when you buy it off-plan, or if there is no show home of that style available.  We took the opportunity to visit other Taylor Wimpey show homes locally so we could get an idea of the size and styles and everyone was so helpful.  Doing this research meant we had a really good idea of what our house would look and feel like.

“I’ve stayed in a few new-build properties over the years, and our house at Princess Gate has been finished to a far better standard than any of those.  We’ve had very few minor snags and the team here has been really happy to get sorted for us with no fuss.”

Demand has been high for three-bedroom homes at the development, and Natalie and Alistair didn’t get one of the original plots they had hoped for because two couples camped out overnight to secure those.  But the team at Taylor Wimpey stayed in touch with the couple and kept them up to date on when more three-bedroom homes would be released for sale.

In the end, buying a new house from Taylor Wimpey was hassle-free, and getting the keys to their new home was really smooth and easy too as Natalie adds: “Everything just fell into place.  Claire, our sales executive, was fantastic.  She was able to answer all our questions and was brilliant at sharing the progress of our house.  She even sent us progress pictures at key points in the build – like the day the roof went on!”
