Emergency hotline 1927 for counselling for drug addicts during COVID-19 outbreak

Nov 14, Colombo: The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board has taken steps to introduce a special telephone number to provide counseling services to those addicted to drugs and their family members, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, the Board states that this counseling service is available 24 hours a day in all three languages Sinhala, Tamil and English through the short number 1927.

With the current outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country, drug users have become a more vulnerable group and they are facing various problems in accessing treatment and counseling services.

Due to this, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board states that this telephone number has been introduced to expedite the provision of counseling services for the problems faced by drug users and their loved ones.
