Fifteen Vietnamese citizens and one foreign expert from Russia were confirmed Covid-19 patients Sunday evening, taking the nation’s active case count to 140.

Patients 1266-1269 are three women and one man, aged between 25 and 35. Two are from the central provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa and two from the northern province of Son La.

They landed at Van Don Airport from Russia on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 on October 31 and was quarantined in Hung Yen Province upon arrival.

They are being treated at General Hospital of Tropical Diseases 2 in Hanoi after the second test result last Friday showed they contracted the novel coronavirus.

Patients 1270-1280 are 10 women and one man, aged between 19 and 55. Of them, one is a Russian foreign expert and the 10 Vietnamese living in Thai Binh, Nghe An, Khanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Dak Lak, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri provinces and Hai Phong City.

They arrived at Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 and were sent to quarantine in the central province. Their test results came back Saturday confirmed they were positive for the coronavirus and all are being treated at Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases, Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital and Ninh Sim-Ninh Hoa Clinic in Khanh Hoa.

“Patient 1281” is a 34-year-old man from central Ha Tinh Province. He landed at Van Don Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062 on October 31 and was quarantined in northern Hoa Binh Province.

He is being treated at Hoa Binh Province General Hospital after test result released Sunday confirmed he was positive for the virus.

The 16 additions raised Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally to 1,281. The country has gone 74 days without community transmission cases. The number of Covid-19 deaths is 35.

Globally, the pandemic has infected more than 54 million and killed more than 1.3 million people.
