Eiffage Énergie Systèmes wins several contracts subsidized by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)

In Benin, our teams are to reinforce and upgrade high and medium voltage buried and overhead power grids, build three HV/MV/LV transformer substations and carry out the civil engineering works inherent to this huge project. After the study phase, our teams will take charge of preparing the ground for building the civil engineering structures, before installing and commissioning the new equipment. They will also handle on-site staff training and supply the customer with the necessary vehicles, tools and spare parts.

Their assignment comprises three lots:

  • The first lot concerns 33 km of 30 kV line buried in trenches (requiring 7 thrust boring operations), 14 km of  33 kV overhead line on concrete posts, 13.5 km of buried optical fibre and 16 km of overhead optical fibre. Our teams will switch the existing 15 kV and 20 kV lines to 33 kV over 840 km and thus replace substations and manually operated and remote-controlled overhead switches.

  • The second lot consists of 110 km of buried, sheathed 63 kV line, 24 km of buried optical fibre and 15 km of buried 20 kV power line.

  • The final lot involves building three new transformer substations (63/15 kV) and is covered by a specific contract also awarded to Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ teams.

In Ghana, our teams must install and commission two of the four primary substations (33/11 kV) currently being built for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Kanda and Legon, in the Greater Accra Region. Through this project, our staff will make a significant contribution to improving the reliability of Ghana’s electricity distribution. The region’s hospitals - University of Ghana Teaching Hospital, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, 37 Military Hospital and Greater Accra Regional Hospital - will be the first to benefit from these technical improvements.
