Cognizant to accelerate growth with Bright Wolf deal

Cognizant Technology Solutions has agreed to acquire US-based technology services provider Bright Wolf for an undisclosed sum.

Subject to customary conditions, the transaction is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to Zephyr, the M&A database published by Bureau van Dijk, the deal represents Cognizant’s eight acquisition in 2020.

Last month, the company agreed to purchase Illinois-headquartered online cloud-based consultancy solutions provider 10th Magnitude for an unannounced sum.

The deals will help accelerate Cognizant’s growth in key strategic areas, such as cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and software product engineering.

Based in North Carolina, Bright Wolf provides Internet of Things (IoT) services for customers across the manufacturing, supply logistics and environmental controls industries, among others.

Its offerings include edge connectivity and system automatic operations, enterprise applications and cloud analytics.

Bright Wolf partners with the likes of Microsoft, Google, Myriad and Siemens.

Following the deal, Cognizant will establish its newest IoT innovation laboratory in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina research triangle, with the target’s team at its core.

Malcolm Frank, president of the buyer’s digital business division, said: “Combining Bright Wolf’s experience in production-class IIoT [Industrial Internet of Things] deployments with Cognizant’s expertise in foundational IIoT technologies will increase our clients’ resiliency, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.”

Furthermore, the acquiror will gain access to the target’s design consulting, development and digital transformation services, which are used by companies such as Caterpillar and ITW Hartness.
