Avtex picks up CPI’s units

Avtex has acquired the assets of US-based Communication Products (CPI), a provider of contact centre and communications services.

No financial details were disclosed.

Specifically, the buyer will pick up the target’s portfolio of Genesys customers, a cloud-based customer experience (CX) company which sells call centre technology to mid-sized and large businesses.

Through the acquisition, Avtex will expand its CX offerings, including customer relationship management and digital engagement tools, and provide full application development support and managed services for clients.

Located in Indiana, CPI engineers and implements communications operations for over 120,000 organisations worldwide, namely the US Department of Defence and the Lucas Oil Stadium.

The group offers consulting and support services, including enterprise phone systems, recording and quality management, as well as real-time and historical reporting.

CPI’s LivePerson platform enables employees to provide information, answer queries and complete transactions within their own messaging channels, without having to rely on outbound calls.

Formed in 1983, the target’s customers also include Celadon, Citizen’s Energy Group, Smithville Communications and Langham Logistics.

The buyer’s chief executive, George Demou, said: “The acquisition of CPI’s contact centre business provides Avtex with expanded technical talent, geographic reach and progressive client base.

Avtex will continue to be aggressive to expand our capabilities around these solutions, even during these market conditions for the benefit of our clients.”

Zephyr, the M&A database published by Bureau van Dijk, shows there were 54 deals targeting telemarketing bureaus and other contact centre operators announced globally in 2019.

Groupe Bruxelles Lambert acquired a majority stake in France-based Webhelp for EUR 2.40 billion in the most valuable of these, which represented the largest transaction on record for this sector.

Other companies targeted during the 12 months include CCC Holding, Teleperformance and JMS United.
