Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo score No.1 in the UK chart with ‘Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)’

Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo have reached No. 1 in the UK singles chart with ‘Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)’.

The track started out as a melody created by New Zealand high school student Jawsh 685. ‘Laxed (Siren Beat)’ sparked a global TikTok movement, with millions of users celebrating their heritage through learning the ‘Culture Dance’ – transforming into traditional dress part-way through their videos. Jason Derulo then wrote lyrics to the tune, which led to the pair collaborating.

Reacting to the chart news, Jawsh 685 said: “Being a youngin from South Auckland hitting the charts heavy to the point where we hit No.1! Honestly it is just the biggest blessing I could have ever received, seeing it happen to not only me but for my family and friends! As always from here on out, thank you for all the support and love from around the globe! Stay safe, stay styla.”

The island-infused dance track has been involved in over 55 million TikTok creations, including features by the likes of Lizzo and Jessica Alba
