Hill Dickinson advises Tessa Gough & Associates as expert witness firm becomes part of handl Group

Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson’s Manchester Corporate team has advised a market-leading provider of expert witness and rehabilitation services on its acquisition by handl Group.

Tessa Gough & Associates was established in 1987 and specialises in expert witness reports, rehabilitation and care management services to the personal injury sector. The business is a specialist in high-value claims and catastrophic injury work and works with a national network of associates.

The business has now been acquired by handl Group, a Lancashire-based strategic consultancy for the legal, insurance and healthcare sectors.

Advising Tessa Gough & Associates on the acquisition of their business were corporate partner and head of Manchester Corporate, Ian Gillis, senior associate Katie Somerville and associate Harriet Adgie.

The acquisition strengthens handl’s position as a provider of expert witness and rehabilitation services. In particular Tessa Gough & Associates brings strong nursing experience to the panels and represents the latest step in handl’s strategy to broaden its medical evidence and treatment propositions through acquisition.

Commenting on the deal, Ian Gillis said: “Tessa Gough & Associates has been providing expert witness and rehabilitation services in complex medico-legal cases for almost 35 years, with tremendous success.

“As a law firm with expertise across both corporate and healthcare sectors, the team at Hill Dickinson are delighted to have been part of the journey in advising Tessa on the sale to handl Group. We wish Tessa and handl Group the very best for the future.”
