Gowling WLG home to Canada’s leading IP practice for US patent prosecution referrals, study reveals

Gowling WLG is the go-to firm in Canada for United States patent prosecution referrals, a recent study conducted by Patent-Pilot and published by IAM Patent revealed.

Between 2013 and 2018 (the period covered by the study), Gowling WLG filed a total of 5,877 cases referred from US law firms – more than any other IP service provider operating in Canada and more than double the amount of the third-ranked firm.

According to Patent-Pilot, the world’s top 50 jurisdictions received 158,177 patent cases from US law firms in 2013, a figure that climbed to 182,169 in 2018. Since 2013, Canada alone has received 117,732 cases.
