The Beauce Materials Company strengthens its position as a major player in the aggregates industry in the Centre-Val de Loire region

LafargeHolcim Granulats and Eiffage Route jointly operate, through SMB, a company in which they each hold 50% of the capital, the limestone quarries of Guillonville and Prasville. The integration of the Villermain limestone stone-pit, which produces more than 250,000 tons per year, will optimize the operation of the company’s three quarries by creating operational synergies.

Through this operation, the two players reaffirm their intention to develop and sustain their presence in the aggregates market. The contribution of a new quarry will allow SMB to strengthen its local position while enlarging its commercial scope. The company is in particular an important player for the delivery of aggregates and the recovery of excavated material from the Grand Paris Express construction sites.

The Société des Matériaux de Beauce in brief:

  • 3 quarries: Guillonville (28), Prasville (28), Villermain (41)
  • 1.1 million tons of aggregates produced per year
  • 31 employees
